“Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without a compass, God’s love encompasses us completely.
– Dieter F. Uchtdorf
I am a mess. A selfish, judgmental, and insensitive mess. But guess what? So are you.
We are all a mess. Full of vain ambitions, that more often than not seek to bring the best to ourselves and exclude others. It’s why Jesus was sent into this world. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He came to die, that we might live and He came to show us how to love.
How did Jesus love others? He was completely selfless. He sought out those who needed help. The hungry, the blind, the lame, and all sinners. He helped them and gave entirely of Himself, for the good of others.
I think that should be at the forefront of our mind on a daily basis, and especially on the holiday that celebrates love, Valentine’s Day.
I have sort of a challenge for you this Valentine’s Day. Let’s turn our focus from the hearts and the candy, to truly loving those in your life. By seeking out someone, that needs to be shown they are loved.
One way you can do that is to make someone a meal. Whether it’s someone who has recently lost their job, had a loved one die recently, or any other trial life brings. If you enjoy cooking, bring out your best culinary skills and if not, order a meal from your local grocery store. You can either take it to their home or invite them to your home.
Set a peaceful atmosphere. With background music, candles, “Served With Love Cloth Napkins”, and real plates. Serve your guests, and talk with them.
Often times we see that a way Jesus loved others, was to genuinely listen to them when they talk. Never underestimate the power of a listening ear.
Some other ways we can show our love is through gifts. To help us remember the ultimate gift we have been given by God, Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sins.
Some gift ideas that carry the theme of love from Mary and Martha are…

Loving others does not have to be hard work although it does take practice.
It’s work worth doing and doing often. Let’s love as Jesus loved by putting ourselves to the side and seeing the needs of others first.
If you’d like to order one of these amazing gifts to share the love with someone in your life, reach out to me and I’d be happy to help you get this in time for Valentine’s Day!
